If elected will you serve
with the honesty that we need,
spurning the evil influences
that leave our souls to bleed?
Can you share the spotlight
without being a prima donna,
accepting counsel wisely
sparing us the drama?
Mend our nation’s fences
dress our political wounds,
give birth to the hope and reason
our hearts carry in their wombs.
Restore the sense of purpose
to a system run amok,
return the quality of leadership
where once we had such luck.
Senator can you guide us
to where we need to go,
back to respectability?
Please Senator, make it so.
