Lyrics in Search of a Tune
Please set us to music because we want to sing,
being read is OK but it's not the same thing.
The magic that music gives to our poem
makes them a song folks sing when they know 'em.
People don't hum poems when driving the car
or pick one out when playing guitar.
We need a new voice to set us all free
from this book where we live and you seldom read.
We'd like to ROAR ! Tell our stories out loud
seeing you tap your toe would make us all proud.
You pickers out there come take a look
at the laughter and truths here in this book.
We'd fit right in with the fiddles and drums
our words and your music would be lots of fun.
Yes we'd love to be played and heard 'round the room,
until then we are just lyrics, in search of a tune.
