Low Hanging Fruit
When in my youth attitudes were loose
it was "turn on tune in and drop out",
hippies of the day seemingly always at play
said "that's what it's all about".
Fifty years ago I learned it was so
picking favorites from the mix.
Put to the test what suited me best
are these favorites of their tricks.
I settled with ease on the three Bs
Bluff, Bullshit and Bedazzle!
Score and make tracks don't reveal facts
the answer to scrutiny is travel.
Be gone with the dawn take the profits along
and smile brother keep smiling,
call it a draw if they phone for the law
leave when they begin dialing.
Take what you can get leave all the rest
that's for workers and drones.
Flee with what's free 'cause you don't want to see
them perspire and hear all their groans.
A castle in your mind will save lotsa time
working and putting up walls,
cause bricks and stone do not make a home
just a trap whenever it falls.
The road and a song will get you along
from dawn to horizon ahead,
because only your bones left all alone
remain long after you're dead.
